We need to change syllabus but we also need to be realistic and not create a wedge straight from a young age. CBC prides itself as pro digital literacy but they also say schools should use locally available materials. A kid in ole nguruone will make bows and arrows while an average middle-class kid will be complex games on a tablet.

My 6 year old kid home work over the weekend was to play a certain pattern game, in the name of numerical analysis.
I wondered what are folks up country doing,,those with no access to internet or even platforms. 844 had it's draw back but it was an equalizer.

So, why shouldn't we use locally available resources? I thought that encouraging teachers to use locally available resources is an excellent way of uplifting learning for resource-poor areas.

Someone with the right thinking skills does not need to be subservient to anyone.

The problem happens when people attack plans without thinking because thir emotional compulsions.

This brings a destructive behaviour worse than an elephant on murst.
 
CBC is a load of nonsense, 6 years later there is no clarity on grading, where Grades 6 - 8 will be based, criteria for admission to high school and tertiary institutions, this is not a half-baked curriculum, it is an impossible one.

The next administration will revert to 8-4-4 with the 12 subjects just like it was originally,

People aren't born with the right thinking skills, that's why people need to be taught the right way to think

Not every new plan is for the best of the people the plan targets. Labelling opposition to said plans as emotional compulsions means you have nothing of note to offer in defence of those said plans. In this case, CBC is a deliberate watering down of the Kenyan education system while simultaneously enriching a few individuals.

No, it is our right as citizens of this country to oppose plans that are not made in our best interests, especially from a government that still has heavy colonial leanings and is thoroughly corrupt, you won't mind mortgaging the future of the people they are meant to serve and whose interests it was meant to fight for.

Boss, locally available materials is vague and will be basis for creating a class divide. One group will have latest information tools as locally available materials while the others will be stuck with collecting garbage . As explained above, the transition criteria is also vague, on which basis will national schools pick students from all over the country with?
with 844, we all read same content and exams were based on that content, any kid from all over the country at least had an equal chance in hacking it.

the message that is being passed to you chini ya maji is that you should never question anybody worse case still never question government their decision is perfect.

If we had people who always did what they were told you would never get the kind of KRA commissioner who told off Uhuru, Raila and Ruto when they represented the government and ordered him to stop asking for taxes.

Basically be like Kinoti and just arrest everybody without asking any questions because the gavament said so

Locally available materials means readily accessible and obtainable resources. For example, tablets are not locally available across the country but old style books could be. If publishers only made e-books, then we would be discriminating against the poor.

Transition: kids in grades 3 to 12 will be doing an annual national formative assessment. They will also do a national summative assessment at grades 6, 9 and 12. The results of those assessments and the learners interests will determine their placement.

We didn't have equal opportunities at excelling in 8-4-4! That's why getting placed at a national or extra-county is school is highly coveted. Those schools have more resources than a day school somewhere in a semi-arid county. CBC won't fix this either.
