Above is a 1984 photo of businesses along Munyu Road in downtown Nairobi. See “Babu & General”? This was associated with veteran music producer and recorder, Babu A. Kanyottu, who also founded Studio Sawa Sound Limited.

Through Studio Sawa, Kanyottu was recorder and producer behind big names in Kenyan music among them Les Wanyika, Kakai Kilonzo, Mary Atieno feat. IFC Choir (famous for Adam na Eva gospel track), Kilimambogo Brothers, CDM Kiratu, Daniel DK Kamau, Prisons Choir, among others.

Kanyottu is pictured here, 2nd left, in this photo.
