what are the odds that she wanted to be a farmer/tea picker all along?
do you know there are those who get B+ and above and don't want to do engineering, medicine, architecture.......?
they are comfortable with the "less" prestigious courses or money-making ventures/careers?

an there are those who get c+ and below but want to be pilots, engineers, doctors...... but won't get that chance, and those who get via parallel programmes excel more than those who had B+ and above?

there is a girl who was doing engineering and she was telling us that her passion is being a chief. the family owns a hotel and she loved cooking but was forced to do engineering. she swore that once she's able to fend for herself, she's doing a chief course and open her own little kibanda/hotel and follow her passion.

it's unfortunate that the world forces us to do what it wants and not what we want, and when things go bad, the world is surprised.

Nobody forces anyone to do what they don't want. Parents only persuade their children to aim higher or dissuade them from pursuing wasteful courses. I have a girl doing kiswahili with communication at one of the rural universities only because JAB allocated her that. She wanted to do agriculture and had the qualifications. Sasa Huyo na ako third year alilazimishwa na wazazi pia or she simply refused to take charge of her own destiny?

if she/they had money to pay the fees to pay and upkeep, am sure they would have taken charge of their destiny.
but here we are.

yes, there are parents who have helped their kids in making the right decisions, but there are those who have pushed their kids into the wrong career/life paths.
and as long as you live under your parent's roof, you do as they "suggest"
