Advice needed - Mazda Atenza vs Toyota Mark X

Barueri

New Lister
I am looking to get a midsize car and I have become interested in these two models, both 2013 year of manufacture. I know each has its own pros and cons, but I would like to get firsthand ownership experience. My main concern with the Mark X is whether fuel consumption is too high - I've seen a video on YouTube where the gauge cluster showed 6.9km/l for that trip. My main concern with the Atenza is that it's a totally new car on the market - Mazda completely overhauled the 2012 model year. Elders like @Introvert who have experience working on cars, ama @Ice_Cube who has had experience with the Toyota Crown (which is the Mark X's bigger cousin) hata nyinyi saidieni tafadhali and give your views.

Does the Atenza also have the Skyactiv technology? They tried mimicking i-stop technology with mixed results. I saw some complaints on a US board about how the technology malfunctions as they age and start burning engine oil. Anyway I like how the car looks and the previous generation was OK. The markX on the YouTube Video may have been driven by someone with a heavy foot. Mark X and crown consumption inachezea hapo 11 km/l at normal driving. I am not that qualified to give an unbiased opinion hapa. Even though ukichukua crown athlete sio mbaiya sanaa. Would suggest you join Mazda Kenya groups (watsapp/telegram/fb) and just observe their comments and you will notice a trend with mechanical issues or what not. For example I am a member in various VW groups but I do not own a VW yet, but it has informed me on a variety of issues. all the best

Thanks, the Atenza has the Skyactiv engine. So I'll have to research more in user forums and see about it.
