At least seven people were killed and 14 injured on Monday afternoon after a lorry rammed into traders at Kaburengu trading centre on the Eldoret–Webuye Highway.
Confirming the incident, Kakamega County Police Commander James Ngetich said the lorry lost control and veered off the road, crushing into traders selling goods by the roadside.
The lorry, which was carrying gravel, was heading towards Webuye.
Investigations are underway to establish what caused the driver of the lorry to lose control of the vehicle.
The injured were rushed to Webuye Referral Hospital.
