Goods valued at Millions of shillings and a Lorry belonging to a local manufacturing Company that had been stolen while on transit along Mombasa highway have been recovered.
The vehicle's driver made a report that he had stopped along the way at Makindu to answer to a call of nature when robbers ambushed him and drove away with the Lorry.
However, he gave a contradicting statement to his employer, claiming that he had been attacked by robbers wielding crude weapons who carjacked him along with the goods at Makindu and dropped him at Maungu area in Taita Taveta County before driving away.
Upon investigations, detectives recovered the empty lorry in Samburu area as further investigations lead them to a thicket in Mnangoni Kwari area where the Consignment had been hidden.
The driver of the vehicle is being held as a prime suspect at Makindu police station pending further investigations.
