    Those soils are called oxisols. Due to the high rainfall and temperatures in that area, organic matter decomposes very fast and the rain washes away (leaches) the nutrients leaving soils that have high amounts of iron oxide (which is reddish) and aluminium oxides which give the soils the red colour.
