The inventor of the "Yes, we can" slogan

Happy 94th birthday, Dolores! When I was a young organizer, reading about @DoloresHuerta’s life and work showed me what was possible. As one of America's great labor and civil rights icons, Dolores has devoted her entire life to advocating for marginalized communities. She knows the power of community organizing, and through the Dolores Huerta Foundation, she continues to train and mentor new activists and organizers. She also came up with a pretty good slogan, “Si, se puede.” Yes, we can.

People will say whatever comes to their minds about Ja Siaya but he remains one of the most defining leaders of this century.

Yes, he is woke in every sense of the word and yes, he instigated the killings of innocents especially after the Benghazi assault in Libya 🇱🇾 as all presidents do and for that, he deserves condemnation but what he did especially for the black man remains very significant.

Perhaps one day in years to come, he will receive the acllaims he deserves.

I just can't tell enough of how much he meant to a Kenyan like me living in the Yues during his presidency. What a man.

Well, he taught us that eloquent speeches does not correlate with an effective presidency, even as we supported him as kenyans. That's why I now prefer Trump who will insult people and not cater to their sensibilities but is enough of a thug to get the tough job done.

In his visit to kenya he could have, say, donated equipment to technical learning institutions or even open a school somewhere. Instead he came preaching gay rights which is alien to kenyan culture.

So exactly what did Obama achieve? Take your time and explain it to us.

To me, the only thing he did was help perpetuate a fraud or fallacy - that a 'black' man can be elected as POTUS.

Obama was neither black or when you come to think of it, a man. He was a spineless caricature of a black man at the total control of the White liberal deep state. Hence his murder of Gaddafi, and his promotion of the alphabet agenda.

When you come to the continent of his father, you can't even name one thing he did to help the continent along. Not one.

Contrast that with say George W. Bush who launched Pepfar, which has seen millions of Africans get free ARVs. A lot of the Njaruo mankis you see celebrating Obama as their son are alive, or their parents are alive, because of GWB, not Obama.

The long and short of it is that Obama is a dyed-in-the wool Uncle Ruckus. Let not that splash of melanin fool you.

You are absolutely correct. Only critical thinking can reveal what you just stated my good Sir.
Maybe I'm just happy and lazy for selfish gains to peddle the Kenyan narrative in 'some circles'.

Also, I think his dad did the donkey's work as crazy a man as he was. Read on...

Although Obama has been criticized for not doing enough for African Americans and Africans, this criticism ignores the realities of American politics. It is not as if he was some strongman of some sketchy country where he could order things to happen using presidential decrees. The man faced bitter opposition, within and without his party, just for being who he was, let alone pushing for some policies. Obamacare, for example, was heavily opposed and challenged by people from both parties simply because it was seen as disproportionately benefiting poor African American families. His detractors were going to shoot down anything that could cement his legacy as a great leader.

His efforts to normalize relations with Cuba, which offers among the best prospects for black people in the diaspora, were instantly reversed after he left office. One question I always ask critics is; what could he have done differently? and how easy would it have been to achieve it? We should also recall that he was welcomed into office by a recession and a financial crisis, which he managed fairly competently. Which demographic would have suffered most has the situation escalated? Now, compare that to Trump's performance during the COVID-19 crisis.
