It’ll be a while before anyone can credibly say anything.
The IEBC has not tallied forms 34A. Not even one. They’ve uploaded most of the forms on the portal. That’s not the same as tallying them.
In 2017, text results would be sent together with the image of the forms which made it possible to add totals real-time. Since then, the Supreme Court ruled that text results are inadmissible so there are no text results sent by POs this time, only scanned images of the forms.
You have to download from the portal and extract the numbers to get the result for that polling stations and begin tallying. So far, Citizen has only done just under 5,000 forms out of more than 42,000 forms in the past 8 odd hours representing about 2.8 million votes out of 12 million cast. Nation has only counted 1.2 million votes.
At the earliest, it’ll be late evening when we get to 5 million votes counted and that’s when trends can begin to emerge… Until then, neither side can claim anything - it’s just too early to tell, still too much math to do.
But Itumbi and Co running an aggressive media campaign to claim victory when there’s literally no way they know. They even have people claiming victory for other positions where counting hasn’t even started
