Tanzania’s biggest gas dealer Taifa Gas has been licensed to set up a gas plant and storage facilities at a site in Dongo Kundu near the port of Mombasa to supply LPG for domestic, commercial and industrial use.

Good stuff - don't understand why our LPG has to come from Asia when TZ next door has gazillions of it...........
LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) is a by-product of petroleum refinery, mostly made up of Propane (C3H8) and Butane (C4H10). It can be liquefied under high pressure at room temperature and packaged in gas cylinders. This is what you get from your gas dealer. LNG (Liquefied Natural gas) is mostly methane (CH4). This is what you get from gas fields (e.g. in Tanzania). It is not easily liquefied unless under high pressure and very low temperatures. It can be packaged in much larger cylinders as a gas under ambient temperatures. However, the energy density of packaged Liquefied Natural Gas is much lower than that of Liquefied Petroleum Gas. For instance, if your 12 Kg gas cylinder were to be filled with LNG in gaseous form, it would last a day at most. LNG is mostly piped as a gas to users from central locations with cold storage tanks that can store the gas in liquid form. It takes much less space when stored as a liquid. Vehicles are sometimes fitted with LNG cylinders (costly but justifiable) as an alternative for other liquid fuels.
Note that bio-gas has the same composition as LNG (CH4, Methane).
