The banditry attack on St Benect Girls was stage managed, The Head of school to face disciplinary action.

The principal St. Benedict Arror Girls secondary school is expected to face disciplinary action over her action of sharing an online clip of her students taking cover under dining tables after banditry attack rocked the area.

Speaking to the media, Security officers from the area have condemned the action saying that they were not amused by the video but instead castigated Principal Lucy Akumu accusing her of being an alarmist and irresponsible person.

Adding weight to their accusations, Marakwet West Deputy County Commissioner Mathias Chishiambo said that the video was improper and investigation was underway to institute disciplinary action on the individual who recorded it.
“The video was stage managed to portray the government as defeated by the banditry menace. The attacks were not anyway near the school compound but more than a kilometre away. If the attack was indeed in the school none would even dare stand. No spend cartridge was recovered in the school. What was heard was just gunshots,” Mr Chishiambo said.

In the shocking video, students of St Benedict Arror Girls are seen lying flat on the floor under the tables while in the dining as the sound of gunfire can be heard.

The female recorder who was later identified as the school principal is heard calling for help as she described the attack.

“It has never been like this, students are scared and even me while taking this video I am scared. Something has to happen to put this situation to an end. I am appealing to whoever is watching t is video to kindly do something and help the students of Arror recover from the trauma. We are scared,” a female voice is heard saying in the video.

She did the wrong thing. There are better ways she could have handled the situation. The public service also has guidelines regarding communication by officers.

When such an attack happens, you calm down the students and call the police and the person in charge of education in the area. You do not start wailing and streaming the chaos live on social media. Management 101.
Details. Answer the question.

I am a trained first aider,I know what should happen in an emergency.
That's why I asked you:
Are you @spear reincarnate?

Huyo Chishiambo tumekata maji Sana na yeye hii eldoret, a cool guy who loves nubile ladies. Having said that a principal should always be calm and avoid drama/looking for social media notoriety.
Although I understand that she being from an area where gunshots are an alien thing, with the exception of electioneering period, an attack is reported to her line supervisors and security agencies not sharing it to all and sundry.
You can imagine how parents of those kids felt after seeing the video? Alarmists posts should be left to bloggers/attention groupies.

Saying the gun shots were more than a kilometer away is irresponsible of whoever was writing this story book.
You cannot control how people react in times of distress or panic.
They should accept they have failed the people in that area.
It's easy for us to type as keyboard warriors because we have never been in such compromising situations.
That's why you see some comments on management theories.
First of all is the principal trained for such situations?
Dumping blame on her and saying it was stage managed, is not the responsible reaction to this.
If the govt itself lost a while truck of military personnel to bandits a few years back....

An administrators first job is to calm the situation and assure people of their security. So even if the bullets were flying through the windows the DC must say those were stray bullets fired from some distance away. He must reassure the students, teachers, parents and the public that he is in control.

Very easy to say, when you're behind the keyboard. How would they know the bullets are flying a kilometer away?
What the DC is saying is an after story.

Saying that the gunshots were a Kilometre away is irresponsible? Niggah what if that's where the banditry attack was happening?

"You cannot control how people react in times of distress or panic" true you can't but POSTING IT ON THE SOCIOMEDIA IS NOT THE CORRECT WAY TO ESPECIALLY FOR THE TOPMOST SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR!!

"It's easy for us to type as keyboard warriors because we have never been in such compromising situations. That's why you see some comments on management theories"
Speak for yourself Sir. I have lived that life two of my postings were to area considered 'operation areas'.

"First of all is the principal trained for such situations?

She isn't, is she trained to post her school security issues on the sociomedia? And while at that check out the TSC code on issues concerning school/students security.

I know it's fashionable and hip to take on government personnel, but excusing professional negligence due to parochial interests should never be one of the reasons.

Chief, a well trained ear can tell how far a gunshot is. But with a very good understanding of the terrain and weather. A high school teacher is hardly qualified to assess the danger or proximity.

All the same, I would like to see her video. With the Garissa attack, it would be wise to have an SOP that's drilled into schools management on how to deal with active shooters.

Agreed, that's why I am saying that it's irresponsible for her to share the video on the sociomedia, although a teacher isn't trained on dealing with active shooting incidents, they are trained on handling security matters, where TSC firmly instructs them to report to the security agencies.
In operation areas the school heads have the numbers of OCPD's, OCS's, OCPP's, Chiefs, ACC's, and DCC's of their respective areas,
The area Arror being an active operations area has two camps one belonging to ASTU and another for RDU, that why I am still holding that it's irresponsible to spread panic by posting the video instead of communicating with the security officers on the ground.
Lastly it's not all blame she did a good thing by instructing the children to sleep on the floor, it's the best way to avoid stray bullets.
