I think the real question is , under which law was he convicted, - i do not think transporting a pythons is a crime in the penal code , it could be morally wrong but definitely not a crime
Ferying a wild animal is against the law . It's the same as upatikane na cheetah kwa gari.

Having said that I dont think he deserved the harsh sentencing he got whereas Kidero, Sonko na Ruto wanatembeza kinyambiz like nothing happened .

What do you call poaching or you don't know it when you see it?
It isn't only poaching when it involves elephants and rhinos.
Guys have been arrested for poaching ostrich eggs.

Hapo kwa kupewa cash ndio sielewi. Also, I thought it was the president himself who has the power to pardon. I hope it won't set a precedence tukue na small gods all over.

we are talking about a python , you do realize they are not confined to national parks or game parks like those elephants, rhinos or even the ostriches you're talking about , snakes are everywhere - he might as well have garbed the bloody python from his back yard

I had such a valid question as well. The gesture is well taken. Why lock in the young man for trying to sell a snake to a mganga.
