Why do you think it has become so easy to brainwash critical masses of populations, enough to effect change? I am talking about poorly thought out decisions like Brexit, the election of demagogues like Trump, misplaced nationalism as it is emergent in Europe, and even closer home , belief in the hustler vs dynasties narrative with undue regard for the effects it would have on the population.

It is nothing new. Go back in history and you will see the same..sometimes for the greater good but often times, we remember the disastrous effect that such mass brainwashing led to.
When you think of past personalities who were able to convince an entire populace that their tyranny was the best thing, you just shudder. People such as Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, Mobutu, Stalin, Pinochet and the likes still wielded the same..sort of psychological influence over millions and in turn made ordinary folk turn into beasts unknown.
For me, I am just fascinated by how easy it is to control the human psyche.

I totally agree with you. All these bs cannot be blamed on the leaders but the people. Democracy is a divide and rule tactic leaving some feeling left out but in reality they face the same problems as those who voted the opposing side. Thurakus and Tibim voting robots are all crying the economy is hard.
