Safaricom Plc Board Chair John Ngumi resigns

John Ngumi has resigned as the chairman of the board of Safaricom Plc.

Mr Ngumi, who started on August 1st, resigned on December 22nd, according to a statement from the Telco.

A new chair will be elected in the coming weeks.

Safaricom praised Ngumi as an “ardent enthusiast” for expanding East Africa’s largest company in Ethiopia.

Following partially privatising the country’s telecommunications industry in 2021, the company gained entry into Africa’s second-largest population country.
