Safaricom is infringing on my creative works - Chris Kaiga

Kenya artiste and song writer Chris Kaiga is accusing Safaricom for allegedly using his famous words - 'zimenice' 'chain chain' without his consent.

Chris Kaiga is famous for his recent collaboration with Health CS Mutahi Kagwe's son Kahush dubbed 'Mastingo' and other songs like 'Zimenice', 'Chain chain' and 'niko tu'

In a series of tweets, the artiste has accused the leading Telco in the country of not involving him the their recent campaigns despite using his creativity.


This is not the first time Safaricom is accused of the same. Nonini also accused them some time back and they settle their differences outside court.

I hope Safaricom will respond

Anasema these words are common words, he has to prove that they are his words, and not common slang.
Basically he didn't trademark the words so it's a very open case.
Safcom could end up giving him a little loose change to close the case.

Me thinks he just borrowed the words from local slang. If he thinks he should sue,then he should also be sued by whoever he first heard using the words,for using them in a song without consultation
