Poultry farmer anaendelea kuumizwa

Yet again, the age old strategy of increasing feed prices under the pretext of a rise in cost of maize is yet again being deployed.

There is no justification for the price of feed to rise by kshs. 500 per bag simply because of a marginal rise in cost of maize only.

Manufacturers and brokers have got to stop taking advantage of poultry farmers!! This is simply exploitation and it's sad there is no one to fight for the farmers.

Manufacturers have a body to protect their interests yet farmers do not have anyone fighting for their interests!

@Bolo Yeung pia farmers need to be creative. Why not use other alternatives to substitute maize. Kitu kama sorghum. Hapa watalower their cost of feeder.
Shida is that we don't have Institute of doing research to help the farmers.

Maize is actually the cheapest and best quality source of carbs, the problem is that feed manufacturers want to make a profit, the hike prices by huge margins and claim that the price of maize is the problem but that's not true.

Kwanza huko India wanatumia bajra pearl millet as a substitute for maize. If you can come with poultry feed utumie millet halafu iwe cheaper by half price. I see here ukinukisha kitungu mbaya.
Farmers will benefit and will be able to compete with Ugandan farmers.
You sell your eggs cheaper compared na za UG. The importers washidwe kuuza zote Zi haribike they go back to square one.

Another problem is that to get ingredients you have to buy them by the tonnes, you cant just go to a miller and ask for 50kgs

The problem lies with farmers not being United or have a body that is able to come up with solutions to their troubles. Farmers should come together and sell their produce together to avoid middleman and other cartels.
