FROM KICD

KICD is pleading with curriculum implementers to give reasonable assignments considering learners' contexts. Assignments should be within the abilities of pupils. Tasks involving undue costs to parents should be avoided. The spirit of CBC is to leverage on readily available materials to facilitate learning. On the other hand, parents and guardians are encouraged to continue offering condusive environments for learners to link school tasks to their home environments. Please support the children without doing the work for them. Show interest, provide basic needs (pencils, pens, ink, exercise books, etc.). Parents are empowered to raise any unsuitable homework with the headteachers of the schools initially; if not addressed, specific cases can be reported to the Ministry of Education offices or relevant agencies.

but kiuliso, what kind of content is this, how is this supposed to shape a kid mind? also why should kids drop maths at the age of 14? mathematics is a life long skill, some of these subjects are utter joke, personally i think this CBC was designed to water down the education capacity of kenyans, in 18 years time, there will be no more academic writings in Kenya, thinking capacity would have already been locked to other not so relevant things.

That art and sport pathway is a dangerous one, hiyo mtoto akitupwa huko ni shida tupu. sport should remain an extra curricular activity that if need be can be combined with any educational career path. The wort thing is that its those assessments that are done to kids from grade 4 (9/10 year olds) that will determine the same, hapa mwalimu akikuchukia kwisha.

'coz kama sahi in appraisals, rating is very subjective, your boss can either decide you've fully achieved expectations or exceptional especially on roles that are not number based, hii ya shule will be worse, mwalimu akiamua mtoto wako ni met expectations or approaching expectations, there's really nothing much you can do. Exams should be returned, everywhere exams is the si for rating students.

In primary school 7-4-2-4, we learned solidly about light and shadow, umbra and penumbra, without our mothers jumping outside with us.

Kweli Uhuru nĩgũtee.
