Jervasio Njeru, a DCIO office attached to Manyatta Police Station has been released on a Sh. 500,000 bond after denying accusations of raping a 42-year old woman in his office on 31st May 2020.
Njeru who appeared before Embu Chief Magistrate Maxwell Njeru denied charges of rape and acting indecently with an adult.
Jervasio's lawyer Momanyi Gichuki opposed denial of bond for his client saying that he(Jervasio) had been dismissed from the National Police Service.
The prosecution cited that releasing the accused by bond who was a senior officer would interfere with witnesses who were junior officers at the station.
The officer is accused of raping a woman who had been released on bond for obtaining money in false pretence.
The matter is set to be heard on 16th June, 2020.
