Today I had the misfortune of accompanying a close relative to KUTRH for cancer treatment. He was found to be stage 2, and radiotherapy recommended. The guy has been suffering for some time and has really lost weight.

The doctor said he can't start the treatment immediately coz he's underweight. When I enquired more, he asked me why I put oil when frying kitunguu or cooking chapos. I told him its coz hazina mafuta, and oil is needed to attain the temperatures needed to cook them.
He just replied, "exactly" and went away. Then I remembered Mzee Moi and his memorable quote.

Some people don't need to make their death a sad thing to their loving ones. So, they keep making jokes and telling funny things to keep them encouraged.

I can't wish cancer on my worst enemy. Nursed my dad with prostate and bone cancer and the experience was heart wrenching. Very expensive and energy draining. Kwanza his last month alive (May 2020) was real challenging mpaka mzae akafika point akakataa dawa. The man was in pain and would cry over the huge expense and many hours consumed taking care of him at the expense of our hustles.
