Former Ainabkoi Member of Parliament William Chepkut has died, family confirms. Chepkut died on Saturday, October 8, morning.

According to family members, he passed out at his home and was taken to Mediheal hospital Parklands where doctors declared him dead.

Last year, Chepkut was admitted to Nairobi hospital following an accident at a city hotel. He said he missed a step on a staircase and rolled down several meters sustaining serious injuries on his knees.

Chepkut is said to have suffered two other accidents following that incident with one fracturing his hand and leaving him in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit. He later underwent a 36-hour surgery on his legs and the injured arm.

In 2017, he contested for the Ainabkoi MP seat as an independent candidate and won. His attempt to defend the seat as an independent candidate in the August polls failed.

Chepkut worked as the late Nicholas Biwott’s personal assistant.
