The Employment and Labour Court had earlier today halted the impeachment of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko temporarily after 87 MCAs have signed to move his impeachment motion.
Justice Nzioki Makau has barred the County Assembly from discussing the motion pending interparties hearing on Thursday.
Sonko had moved to court to sue the clerk of the assembly, the speaker and the county citing a ruling that was made in February to stop his impeachment process.
Yesterday, the governor was arrested and immediately released while he was holding a meeting with MCAs allied to him at Riverside drive. Police used teargas to disperse the MCAs. It's said that the governor was released after the MCAs demanded so.
This year alone, Sonko has had his fair share of scandals, this immediately happened after NMS director Mohamed Badi took over key functions in Nairobi county.
The governor is yet to name his deputy.
