The government will spend KES. 1.9 billion to buy over 32,000 more desks from local carpenters as it prepares for the reopening of schools.
The Ministry of Education has already invited interested local juakali workshops and artisans to apply for the job to supply the desks at the sub-county level.
Those interested can register for the tenders using prescribed forms that can be downloaded from the websites of the Ministries of Interior and Education or collect them from the offices of Deputy County Commissioners (DCCs) and Assistant County Commissioners (ACCs) countrywide.

Hizo desks zitawekwa wapi? Where's the space for those desks? It would have made sense to build the space { class rooms} to accommodate additional desks for social distancing protocols.

Kwanza after the 100% transition approach by the govt , most public schools were stretched to their limits, even some public boarding schools had tri-deckers in their dorms.

Its Africa, where we climb trees from the top.....and by the way it is the colonialists fault that we don't have enough classrooms. You see; they not only took away our natural resources, but they even took away our limbs and brains. The funding they give us is so restrictive that the most we can do with it is buy tea and mandazis...but you know what? The son of Jommo and the son of the communist sympathiser have a solution. Vote BBI and overnight our government will start providing top notch services to its citizens..

They should have advertised for tenders for expansion of classrooms. Most schools have available space for that..
The students don't need more desks as it means more students joining.Dining hall facilities also need expansion, social distancing is key
