Just stumbled upon this on tuko.

I have great respect for this lady because over the years I have had at least four dear friends who I grew up with and who owing to substance abuse and mental health issues never made it a year after getting deported.
And this strong lady is confronting an issue that is affecting so many families in modern kenya.
Many choose to suffer silently to protect their pride but the sooner we as a society begin to confront mental health issues, substance abuse and addiction, the sooner we shall begin to help ourselves.

Mental health doesn't have to be taboo anymore.

You can run from mental health problems but you can't hide from the consequences of them.
It doesn't have to be that way.
Mental health is just as important as physical health and it should be treated exactly the same way.

Probably she also had a criminal record and you know how that affects one's prospects to get ahead in life in the U.S.

@Ka-buda, I watched this very carefully and what I can say is that this lady is in denial. She says she can't attribute her current situation to drug abuse, yet you can see she's just barely sober. Even with life being hard here in Kenya, surely one can get a room in the slums for 1k and somehow buy themselves a sufuria or two and a bed if they are sober and hard-working? The woman is a drug addict even in Kenya, and that's why none of her family wants to do anything with her.

Now, I knwo drug addiction is a disease and I am not condemning her, but as long as she doesn't fully appreciate that her addiction is the root of all her problems then she ain't going nowhere.

And to think she was in Chox man. Under the layers of age and effects of abuse you can bet she was a hottie...............

I agree.
But don't forget that the first characteristics of a substance abuser is selfishness and denial.
Whatever you make of her, you have to give her credit for shamelessly outing herself.
Thousands suffer in silence and the fact that we're here discussing her predicament is credit to her.
There is no shame in being an addict, being a failure etc... We are mortal beings First and anything else after.
And none of us is perfect ata wale walienda chox and went on to further graduate from an ivy league university kama e.g Mrs. Dr.@purple.
