Other than price, I can think of no other reason one would go for a soundbar.
Take your time and explore AVRs.
I love the simplicity of sound bars and they sound great those that I do have.... There's a myriad of AVRs, sijui which is powerful enough to run which set of speakers, the issue of space.... Is the space large enough to warrant enjoying the speakers as they should and not just on volume 10 before neighbors come knocking down your door. These were considerations in going for a sound bar... When I build a dedicated theatre room, there are speakers by some Germans I'd love to get

Good quality sound does not have to be obnoxiously loud.

This is why I advise for one to research. Polepole tu bila haraka.
Off the top of my head, some of the more common brands include Denon, Marantz, Onkyo, Sony, Sherwood, Kenwood, Yamaha, Harman Kardon.
Product reviews and audiophile forums are a good place to start.

Is the space large enough
Valid concern. Methinks a typical sitting room (hizi malandlords hutujengea) can easily accomodate a 5.2 or 7.2 speaker set-up.
