The 96 deaths are a cummulative count from beginning of January 2021 to August.
Even the number of cases(5325) is cummulative from beginning of the year.
Unless you are seeing other data im not, to support the rising incidences of confirmed cases and deaths after vaccination.

And even the article you first cited (although from end of April) says
