  • The company said it will not be renewing the contracts of the nine companies the utility firm had contracted to process electricity purchases on its behalf.
  • Their contracts expire on August 31.
  • The firm is now fully moving the buying of electricity by its customers in-house and says it has built enough capacity to handle the payments.

They need to clarify on available payment platforms. Tomorrow being 1 September am sure afew will attempt to buy token using the old methods.

Convenience of the customer.
-Not every town has a KP outlet
-Not every customer uses MPesa or Airtel money.
-It doesn't make sense to pay 28 bob when purchasing token worth 100 bob
They scrapped the transaction charges for purchasing tokens worth 100 bob

It was deliberately engineered so that you have to buy from third parties at a lower price. Those third parties were not donating their free time to Kenya power. Walikuwa wanalipwa commission.
Shida iko wapi? If they did not have capacity, they needed to push extra customers to the third parties. Same way safcom pushes callers to third parties for support for a commission
