Plans are at an advanced stage to hand over the management of State-owned aircraft to Kenya Air Force in the latest move to involve the military in civilian affairs.

Officials privy to the plans revealed to The Standard that President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to issue an Executive Order to effect the changes once the plans are completed.


With the changes, all planes owned by the Kenya Police, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Kenya Forest Service (KFS), KenGen, Kenya Power, Ketraco and other State agencies will be managed by personnel from Kenya Air Force.

This will be the latest move by the president to transfer civilian operations to the military in a trend that has seen KDF personnel entrenched in major State institutions.

Consolidation for improved efficiency. These entities sink in huge amounts in maintenance, sometimes questionable, while the personnel at Kenya Air force stay idle most of the time. Maintenance is always a lucrative avenue to defraud government entities.

Nothing like PR and cabros. There's alot work in progress. There's water in many slums now after the general dug boreholes. Efficient transport in Nairobi will soon become a reality. This couldn't be done under Sonko's 3 years and didn't happen under Kidero's 5 years.

The constitution was made for man. Man wasn't made for the constitution. So it can be trashed. Even the Singapore that we keep idolising the father of that nation LKY trashed some aspects of katiba.

It would have been better if the army guys were decommissioned before being given the new posts.Kuna vile àfter kuonja power kidogo wanaweza amua kuchukua yote na kukatalia nayo.

The only stories coming out of the Police Airwing are of repair corruption scandals and misuse where slayqueen daughters of the commandant are flown to holidays making the planes unavailable to take commandos to terror sites.

Hawaezi katalia huko. After all their boss is the commander in chief. Sonko can behave the way he wants because he was elected by people. He reports to nobody.

Mimi I fully support uhuru na jeshi yake on this. Wachukue kila kitu as long as people get efficient services.

You need to familiarise yourself with matters concerning the militarisation of politics which eventually leads to the politicization of the military.
What Uhuru is doing has nothing in trying to improve the country. It won't end well. He is supposed to improve the current civil service but he has allowed it to be 'governed' by his family. Military men don't question, they are trained to follow orders, whatever they may be. He is basically running Kenya the way the colonial government managed Africans...using military men to the extent that even the first principals in most European schools were retired military men.
There's nothing to be happy about. It is a way of corrupting the army so that they don't ask him to leave as they did Moi.
It is a very stupid move

You have been sold a fallacy which you have bought hook line and sinker. His family and friends are implicated in theft and you are here by extension stating that the current civil service has failed the presidency. Take a look at West Africa and Mexico....no sober leader allows the military to be involved in governance only mad men such as North Korean leader, current US president, UG president, Mali govt., Zimbabwe (basket case) etc.....
