In tropical Africa and other tropical zones such as South America, it appears that the disease caused by covid-19 might be less severe than the course the disease runs in the temperate Northern latitudes. A similar scenario plays out in the case of the influenza virus induced flu.

President Pombe Magufuli might be right in urging Tanzanians to be cautious, but not overly panicky about the course of the disease in TZ. Though time will tell, I sure hope Magufuli is right on the issue. I doubt that many people in Africa can survive the economic consequences of a prolonged lockdown

There's no way Rwanda can report 60 cases to Kenya's 25 (two days ago). After KJ challenged the figures, he was vilified for a day, and then we herad yesterday that after a bit more testing (175 of the 2050 under quarantine, but only 88 of the tests analyzed) the figure DOUBLED.
