I will not betray Ruto, Raila is just applying for job by demonstrating - Kiraitu Murungi

Former Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has now changed tunes and is deep in the Kenya Kwanza government, and has declared that he will never betray President William Ruto again.

He also apologised to the people of Meru for misleading them in last year's general elections by working with opposition chief Raila Odinga.

''I am here to confirm that I am ready to work with President Ruto to make sure his government becomes the most successful ever that Kenya has ever had,'' Kiraitu said.

His comment came a day after he was appointed as chairperson of the National Oil Corporation of Kenya by the President, and will serve for a period of three years.

The former governor had tried his luck and vied for the second time as governor but he lost to Kawira Mwangaza.

While still addressing the residents of Meru, Kiraitu said the ongoing dempos planned by Raila will not go anyway as he is just applying for job while pulling mass to demonstrate.

"He wants to be in government, he will demonstrate until he is included in government, I have worked with him and I know him," he said.

"There are no demonstrations, someone is applying for a job, he is always in government."
