She said Sh332 million tax arrears, which are the genesis of the current crisis, had accrued from February 2021
Basically they were willing to negotiate earlier based on what you have shared, but since the investor expressed interest, now they are not willing to negotiate? Do you still think it is a coincidence?

So in your analysis, Keroche's 2% market share is a threat to an international investor?

A big one, when you want to take over a market, you start off with the small fish...Read Facebook and Google tactics....plus if the investor has promised uhuru and family money or shareholding in the company, then it ensures that KRA and/or DCI come into the picture to force them to either sell or shutdown

The biggest barrier to entry is monopoly which leads to unfair trade practices. Keroche with its 2% cannot stop anyone from coming to invest in Kenya. SAB miller was driven out of Kenya by EABL and not Keroche.

And yet keroche has been growing its market share....all big businesses will target the small fish first especially if they see growth...nowhere will you ever see a company going to battle with the dominant players first....

Keroche began operations in 1998 and currently has a market share of 2%. What growth of market share are you alluding to?

They survived as others failed and left yes? Plus are you expecting that such a young company will gain 50% market share against a company that was there pre - independence in such a short time?

Some companies have a thriving mentality. That's why SAB miller closed despite having a 13% market share. If they had a surviving mentality, they would have remained and hang on to their 13% market share.

So basically they are a threat because of that thriving mentality....that is why powerful politicians/president with interest are looking to kill them in favour of the new company set to open shop in the same area

Interesting that no one has mentioned how favoured and protected EABL is. Ama hiyo huwa story ya baze ya jaba?

EABL used extreme thuggish methods to prevent Castle Breweries from gaining a foothold in the market. EABL would have lost half its market share had it played by fair rules. They went as far as hiring thugs to deface Castle billboards. Yes, we are a banana republic.

EABL majorly owned by Diageo, a UK based group.
KEROCHE fully owned locally.

No matter the political side one leans on or Tabitha's legal issues with the taxman, it is very disheartening to see the situation get to this extreme.

Iyo ya castle EABL was tit for tat. KBL also complained in the late 90s that it's billboards were defaced. Ilikuwa vita ya fahali wawili.

But what people may not be aware is that some of these thuggish methods like defacing billboards are done by distributors

This guy speaks to the Kenyan conscience, Tabitha is one of a few entrepreneurs who have built and billion shillings enterprise from the ground up without skimming the public purse, if ever there was an enterprise that deserved preferential treatment it is Keroche.

Instead the adminstration closing down her enterprise spent 2billion on Mumias which vanished into thin air, they intend to sink 146Billion into KQ after years of mismanagement and theft, but hey, let's shut down a business that is a going-concern over tax arrears they are willing to pay.

There is a caste system in this country and it is heavily skewed in favour of the politically connected.
