On 7th January 1945, at 12:00:00 Thunderous Screams and ululations were heard at Maseno Church Missionary Society Hospital, Kisumu District. Those who rushed to the hospital to witness, testify that the Tears of Joy 'collected' on that day could irrigate North Eastern and Ukambani for a whole Year without rationing.
Mary Ajuma Odinga had given birth to a Kenyan Prince and the Elders of Ramogi had to be summoned from the Mount to descend and give a name to a son whose birth was marked by Solar Halo, lightening and thunderstorm on a sunny weather. It took the community elders 7 days to find a name for the boy and he was named RAILA AMOLO ODINGA.
Raila Odinga unlike many other babies did not cry when he was born, he looked at his mother and smiled. His first cry was when the maiden smeared honey on his tongue but he went silent a few seconds later when Jaramogi himself placed a chopped red hot pepper on his tongue. Some nurses who witnessed this could be heard on the corridors whispering 'Agwambo', meaning this is a Mystery. Raila refused to feed on his Mother's breast milk, instead fed on porridge made from a mixture of Cassava, Omega 1, peanuts, groundnuts and millet flour for the first 6 months and would only breastfeed on Sunday afternoons after a shower at River Yala where he would play with pisces and other aquatic species.
On the day of his baptism, a 'Circular rainbow' scientifically known as #Halo formed again around the sun for 2 hours. Animals in the forest were heard all over making sounds as if they were having a celebration. This was followed by heavy downpour despite the defiant red hot sun staying put that flooded the Temple forcing the Archbishop to call for a boat to escort him and his family out of the temple.
At the Age of 3 Tinga was taken to a nearby Missionary Nursery School. The nursery School teacher refused to teach him claiming he was too bright for the class and recommended him to a nearby primary school taught by the white missionaries. On his first day in Std 1, his mathematics and science teacher were astonished by how Raila Odinga comfortably taught the entire class the 2 subjects without referring to any textbook and how all of them grasped the content and were already requesting for end term exam on Day one.
This prompted his Class Teacher to make aware the HeadTeacher of the new pupil's mysterious doings. Shocked to the core, the HeadTeacher called the minister of Education Lord Edward who on hearing the story flew to Raila's school to confirm the story which he and his aides had classified as a myth. On confirming the event as true, Lord Edward immediately gave a ministerial order to transfer Raila Odinga to Std. 4 at Maseno and later to Maranda where he schooled till he finished his O levels!
