It's hard to separate the science from the politics
No one knows what to do about it.
Impossible to measure the consequences of any action taken to address climate change (it takes decades)

It may be better to focus on raising country GDPs first, which lifts people out of poverty, then they'll start caring more about the environment. This will increase consumption (and carbon emissions) in the short term.
Different teams of top economists ranked the Millennium Development Goals in order of return on investment. The results were compiled and averaged, and all the top issues had to do with improving child nutrition in developing countries. Global warming did not even feature. (perhaps by improving child nutrition we'll produce another 10 million geniuses who'll figure out how to solve global warming)
There are more trees in the nothern hemisphere now, compared to 100 years ago, because people burn coal instead of wood. If you ban coal, the poor will burn wood.
It's too complicated an issue to solve. Will people stop using iphones, electricity, riding trains, driving cars, etc to address global warming?
