Gov't slashes entry fees to KWS game parks by 50% to encourage tourism

The new discounted rates took effect on Wednesday and are aimed at bolstering Kenya's tourism sector and help it recover from the shock occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic - Tourism CS Najib Balala announced KWS had given a one-year moratorium to lodge owners in its parks and reserves for rent payment for one year -

Filmmakers have also been given a 50% discount on filming fees in KWS parks to help market Kenya both at local and international stage -
Kenyans have been urged to clinch the opportunity to sample local game parks as the country hopes for a come back of international tourism - The tourism and hospitality sectors are among worst pounded by COVID-19 pandemic and have witnessed massive layoffs and shutdowns as a result of collapsing business

The government has announced a 50% discount on fees charged to gain entry in-game parks and animal conservancies managed by the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS). Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife Najib Balala said the new rates took effect on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, and will be effected with the aim of bolstering tourism until June 30, 2021.

Speaking on Thursday, July 2, in Nairobi, Balala said the new rate will apply for both domestic and foreign tourists who will get an opportunity to sample Kenya's rich tourism centres at half the normal price.
