With all respect to the dear departed,memorials won't do nothing to change attitudes...of the 'oppressed' and the 'oppressor'.
I hope you are also cognizant of the fact that oppression in that country is multifaceted...

It's a pity we even have reverse racism here. People hating on fellow blacks. I have worked with and supervised whites and they are not any different from you and me. Many of them are good people you can get along with. I know many people who have white relatives and get along nicely.
I dont like the hatred exhibited by a minority of whites in the US. In a few decades, they will be the minority!

The racist system is still there. Thats why no matter who becomes president blacks wa huko will continue to be oppressed.
