Form 4 candidate succumbs to suspected Covid-19 complications

A female KCSE candidate from Lureko Secondary School in Kakamega county has succumbed to suspected Covid-19 related complications.

In a briefing done by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, he said that the student was admitted at St Mary's Mission Hospital in Mumias. The CS said more will be shared if she truly succumb to the virus, added that more measures have been put in place to protect the school workers and teachers.

She succumbed while under treatment on Sunday.

Today, Kenya has reported 559 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 3,074. This now brings the country's total caseload to 70,804.

Unfortunately, 18 have died in the last 24hrs. Total fatalities rise to 1,287.

This month alone, 274 have died out of which, 8 are doctors.

A total of 46,244 patients have been discharged from various facilities in the country
