It's now four years since Manchester United won a trophy.

This is Unai Emery's fourth Europa League triumph - three with Sevilla and now tonight with Villarreal.
He lost one, with Arsenal against Chelsea in 2019.

Good ebening At least Ole Gunnar Solskjær is improving, from losing semi finals to finals, it’s progress

I don't see the progression that people talk about with Manchester United. Four years ago under Jose Mourinho they finished second in the Premier League and won the Europa League, and four years on they've actually regressed.

The fact they didn't get out of the Champions League group stage was a warning bell for me. They are going to have to invest if they are going to back the manager. This will be a really sore one for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tonight - he's been in charge for two and a half years now and he still hasn't won any silverware. That is what it is about.

If Manchester City were playing Villarreal tonight you'd fancy them to win the game 3-0 or 4-0. I think Liverpool and Chelsea would have won too. Manchester United have to start climbing the quality ladder, they are still short.

Villarreal finished in La Liga and are a good side, but they are not a Champions League side. I think they will struggle against the elite.

Man Utd's big players didn't turn up, and maybe they are not big players after all.

- @Eng_Villarreal are the seventh side to lift either the UEFA Cup or #UEL without a single defeat in European competition that season after Tottenham in 1971-72, B. Mönchengladbach in 1978-79, Göteborg in 1981-82 & 1986-87, Ajax in 1991-92 and Chelsea in 2018-19. Submarine.

You'd have to go back 20 years for the last time a Spanish team lost a Uefa Cup/Europa League final to a non-Spanish team.
That was Liverpool 5-4 Alaves.
Since then Spanish teams have won this tournament 11 times
