DPP orders arrest of Obado, his four children over misappropriation of county funds

DPP Noordin Haji has directed the immediate arrest and prosecution of Migori Governor Okoth Obado and 23 others over embezzlement of county funds.

Four of Obado's children and county staff said to be accessories of Obado's theft will also be arrested.

According to a statement by Haji, Obado used proxies to unlawfully benefit a total of Sh73 million from companies trading with the county.



It is alleged that the governor received multiple payments through his children's accounts between 2014 and 2017.

"The audit trail of the money revealed that companies wired Sh39 million to the governor's children accounts which was used to pay school fees, upkeep and medical bills in Australia, Scotland and the UK, " Haji said.

For the doubters, wait and see. If one of the cases falls on the right judge, na effidense ishike, huyu tutakua tukisoma story zake kama wale jamaa wesi wa pesa ya mahindi. Hii pessimism yenu imezidi. Didn't the DPP say he will not be taking weak cases before courts the other day? Didn't he order the unconditional release of two bloggers jana? Kwani mnatakaga nini?

These companies and business entities are: Misoft Company Limited, Tarchdog Printers, De1track ICT services, Seletrack Consultants, Mactebac Contractors, Joyush Business, Swyfcon Engineering, Atinus Services, Kajulu business, Victorious investment, Dolphus Softwares, Dankey Press and Pesulus Services.

According to the Haji, the proprietors of these companies were proxies of the governor, including 3 of whom were brothers, namely; Jared Peter Kwaga, Patroba Ochanda and Joram Opala; and their mother Penina Auma Otago, and the spouse to Jared Peter Kwaga, Christine Akinyi and his sister-in -law Carolyne Onyango.

What about my rights as a citizen when i cannot access services because they stole the resources, what about the rights of the sick people who are dying because they choose to steal money meant to improve healthcare!? A case of a chicken thief will not take more than a month lakini hii ya mabwenyenye imekuwa shida?
