Daniel Owira, commonly remembered as Otonglo, came into the limelight during the 2013 National Drama Festivals where he impeccably performed a narrative titled "Otonglo Times" that left the president and the first lady in stitches.
Then a Form Two student at Highway Secondary School surprised his audience at the end of his performance when he said, “Mr President, tweet me.” Before he left the stage, the impressed President stood up and shook his hand.
On a later invitation to state house, president uhuru made this statement
“You are now one of my sons. Make sure you give me your report form every end of the term, ”
A full scholarship up to university level was put on Otonglo's hands, he was enrolled under The Kenyatta Trust, a non-profit organization that educates thousands of students from underprivileged families.
To cut the story short, the president kept his promise.
When I followed up to find what became of otonglo, he had pursued a bachelors degree in Film production and animation from Multimedia University and is now The Digital Content Producer at Oakwood Branding Limited at Valley Road, a brand consultancy firm dealing with brand identity creation, brand strategy development and brand delivery.
A fish given for a day is good and so are handouts but a lesson given on how to fish is for a lifetime feeding, Otonglo is now fishing at Oakwood.
Am not sure which tribe Owira is, probably he is another Kikuyu just like Gathogo.
