Today 20/4/2022 my sister was traveling from Kitale to Nairobi on board an Eldoret Express shuttle matatu,on reaching Moi's Bridge at around 9am they found police on the road who stopped the matatu, the driver stopped then a slight argument ensued between the driver and a male police officer where the driver of the matatu asked the officer why he did not stop the vehicle which was carring maize, the officer got angry and asked the driver who is he talking to like that then the police officer came to the back side of the vehicle and hit the rear side window of the matatu shuttered it which in turn broke and cut an infant of 9 months old on the face near the eye and the child started bleeding profusely, when passengers screamed and tried to ask him why he did what he did he stood ignorant and they tried to threaten passengers from taking video, the mother reported the case and the vehicle was apprehended for unknown offence, the mother was told to take the child home and keep in touch and update the officers how the child is doing and now worry about it since it was a small issue, the most disturbing thing is why would a police officer carelessly shutter a window of a vehicle not knowing the danger he is posing to passengers who are not party to what their issue is and what would happen if the glass caused severe damage to the child,I believe that this was very negligent in the part of the police officer who caused the bloody injury of the child and action should be taken against him with full force of the law.
