People should normalisé reading research papers for themselves. Sio kusomewa.
While that admirable, you must concede to the limit of understanding. You reading a research paper then coming to conclusions that are wrong and confidently spitting out assertions based on your limited understanding are exactly why videos like those up there exist.

When you read a paper and arrive at wrong conclusions, someone with better knowledge (who isn’t looking for sensationalism) will counter your conclusions with reasons. The only different between the ‘actual scientist’ and the ‘anti-vaxxer’ in that video are those titles. Otherwise they’re just the same.
Reading papers in the recent past has helped me know what are spike proteins, what’s AED, mRNA, how it works, what’s SARS-CoV-2 etc. Im not an expert but if someone alleges something that that I didn’t conclude from my research, I’ll ask good questions with references.

I disagree. Unless you are trained in that that particular field reading papers and having a pedestrian understanding of the document does not put you at par with the expert. Because you know how the heart works, does not make you a cardiologist.

The very reason antivaxxers, flat-earthers exist etc is they think they know better than experts based on their reading of the experts literature and coming to their own conclusions. And even despite being explained to by experts (sensational or not) they do not capitulate.

So while you may be humble enough to know the limits of your understanding and ask questions to get clarification on things, there are thousands if not millions of people like the lady in the video spouting half-truths snd factually wrong statements.

The scientist is Dr Tracy Ruscetti aka @Luther12
A simple search of who that woman is claiming to be a doctor yealds nothing, basically she is just a normal person pretending to know everything with no proof whatsoever. Do you think she is a scientist or you have just chosen to believe she is with no questions asked?

Dont ever feel limited because you’re not an expert. I read major contracts every now and then and I’m not a lawyer. I understand them and if i happen to misunderstand some clause and ask questions based on my wrong understanding, expert lawyers always assist to correct my understanding which in the end helps me learn things I didn’t know.
Open up your horizons, read new things to gain an understanding not necessarily to be an expert.

I was looking for articles she has written and nothing comes up, and what you have provided is just one link and it is pretty outdated since tiktok says she is retired, everything else is that tiktok video.
Even if she is retired, she is clearly qualified to speak on the matter as a retired phd lecturer of medicine and biology. The site is for an accredited university stating her credentials. So between the two people whom do think would have a basic grasp of mRNA and vaccine development considering we definitely established she is an actual scientist?

You missed my point. You should feel limited to talk with authority about matters you are not an expert in..especially health. While its ok to learn new stuff, its downright irresponsible to explain why one should or shouldnt get the vaccine based on your limited knowledge because of your lack of expertise.

So, the scientist up there is telling you that the antivaxxer is wrong or right or half-right on numerous points. Whom are we supposed to believe is correct? The person who has who has read something and has grasped "something" or the actual expert who is correcting the "something" the person is espousing?
