Former Spurs striker Peter Crouch has described the three month Premier League hiatus as ‘ideal’ for their Champions League aspirations next season.

Crouch helped Spurs qualify for the competition for the first time in their Premier League history back in 2010, and believes they stand a fighting chance of repeating that feat when the league resumes.

“They were struggling with Son and Kane out and those two coming back will be huge for them and only going to help them,” he said.

Spurs had been missing key players Son Heung-min, Harry Kane, Steven Bergwijn and Moussa Sissoko before the break and now look set to have a clean bill of health.

The North London club are currently in eighth place with nine games remaining, trailing Chelsea in fourth by seven points.
