Covid-19 vaccine volunteers

Kenya is in the search of it's own Covid-19 vaccine after Health CS Mutahi Kagwe in a committee last week said he had it's doubts about the Pfizer vaccine which is on trial stages in USA

Yesterday, another Covid-19 vaccine which is believed to be 95% efficient was announced. Moderna is also in its trial stages.

The whole Covid-19 vaccine news has been confusing Kenyans since no full information about it has been published as everyone now says their vaccine is effective and it will work well.

Questions such as: Who will volunteer to try the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine? What are the side effects? Who will incur the costs if the vaccine causes damages? And so on

Mutahi Kagwe shared his sentiments asking the Health committee how the researchers came up with the vaccine and he insisted that he had reserved opinions about it. This also brought a debate online.

Yesterday during the Covid-19 brief, the CS said that Kenya is willing to try out possible vaccine and that KEMRI has started it's own research.

Several volunteers have taken their blood samples for analysts of Covid-19 antibodies to KEMRI which will help in research for a possible vaccine.

A volunteer by the name Kalasinga has started the process in which he will be in the program for one year. In a tweet he said:

"I'm kinda happy my blood samples have been taken for analysis of my covid-19 antibodies to help with furthering research on a possible vaccine. I will be part of the program for a year. My body handled covid quite well."

Several Kenyans went ahead to congratulate him for volunteering, other were criticizing him

After all the research is done and dusted, we hope we'll find a solutions
