BRT buses to charge Sh150 per trip in pilot phase

We have fantastic plans on paper but somehow some of the people entrusted with implementing them don't use their brains . Someone explain to me how there is a concrete footbridge with a span less than 60 metres being constructed hapo Muthaiga golf club with road scheduled to be closed for some hours on 12 ,14 and 15 February 2022. A footbridge is good thing but the one being constructed would not accommodate a dual carriage (requires a 60 metres road reserve) whereas there are plans to have Kiambu road dualled soon infact the EISA is out already .

The same cock-up happened along Northern bypass near Kamuthi Housing where an overpass was constructed to serve Kamuthi and Jacaranda but the overpass span can't accommodate a dual carriage northern bypass. This bridge was just done recently less than 5 years ago . Pure short-sightedness. In the near future the same bridge will be brought down since Northern bypass will be the only road which will not be dualled in the Nairobi bypass ring .
The question is, how hard cant it be to plan ahead ?

Northern Bypass is fairly traffic free apart from the Githogoro stretch, of which hio slum iko kwa barabara

150 is beyond reach for most hustlers....walete shiiini. Brt ya TZ is fairly affordable to most of the commoners

How I wish the resources would have been used to improve the rail lines Ruiru , Athi river, and Limuru. I wouldn't mind boarding a train from the central station to Ruiru if it would have frequent trips throughout the day. For instance, they can have a train leave the station every hour during the day.
The BRT charges starting at 150 for the pilot phase will be their biggest challenge to win anyone . Nowadays Thika road is very competitive we now have Eastleigh Sacco ,Zuri Sacco,Githurai 45,Super Metro and many other new entrants serving Thika road some up to Thika. From around 10 am on weekdays the fares from Kimbo /Spur Mall for CBD drop to 50 bob for some buses and 30 bob kwa zile matatu roundi mwenda all day . Sometimes last year the inbound stage hapa Thika road /Eastern bypass junction the place was dominated Nawasuku and Lopha , now the same stage iko na Githurai 45 and Super Metro as new entrants. Fare used to be 80 and 100 every morning before 9 am but now it's mostly at 50 bob. That's the same place where BRT buses will be making a turn back to town. So a difference between 50 sh and 150 sh , it is not so hard for a passenger to make the decision, especially in this hard economic times.
Welll put matangi mpaka city ni hamsini na matangi iko huko ndani

I have seen suggestions that matatus will run concurrently with the brt. I can only see failure. The level of jam that will be on thika road will be monumental not to mention accidents.
True, Thika road will be one huge mess.

Please wasilete hiyo pilot or anything waiyaki way.... Wapeleke hizo mabasi na huko upstairs expressway.

The relevant people know it's a fail lakini pesa lazima ikulwo na watu kadhaa.....

You realize that would mean a second railway line to these towns. But on the existing line the can have the train run both ways every two hours or whatever duration that is expeditious in as a start.

Actually just increasing the cost of parking to like 1k per day would decongest the city without much more planning
You're assuming GoK and county government has monopoly on parking spaces in town. Plenty of private parking lots will compete with each other to ensure parking fees remain as they are.

Au tutahonga kanjo Sh200 tupark the whole day.

I'll give my take in comparison to the countries I've been to.
150bob is not expensive but for KE it is due to the average income of the people who use public means.
Another thing is, with flat rates it means regardless of peak or off peak, the charges remain the same. If you put that into consideration, I think 50 - 100bob would be fair.
Hope they're planning to use pre paid cards and not that cash or M-Pesa nonsense.

Na pale Lifestyle wakimaliza kujenga ofisi will they still allow public access to the parking basement?
