It now has a lot of facilities that will need maintenance if the standards are to be maintained. Kama ingekuwa just a park with grass and trees, it's something else. Ata Arboretum na Karura Forest hulipiwa and it's no wonder they're much better kept than say...City Park.
true, hata 20 bob could have been enough, sahi am sure even the toilets will be run down

If they'll be free, the maintenance money will come from somewhere. Nairobi businesses will have a hard time feeding people's children and maintaining parks

I agree but, wouldn't it be better to have small businesses licensed to work inside there and pay fees to the City. Maybe hire out the venue or sections of the venue for maintenance. Why charge common mwananchi who has never needed to pay, just because you added a bit of concrete, giraffes and crocodiles.

Ndio maana ni discussion of ideas. Hiyo yako ni poa. Also, get bikes for hire like boats always were alongside skates for the huge rink they made. Erect some merry-go-rounds better than those which were at Lunar park etc etc

Your idea is also good but don't rubbish the other ideas.
It's not only toilets and greenery to be maintained, plus the city needs to bring some revenue in, not just for the park.

I remember there was a time we had a merry go round in Karatina as kids. We used to leave church and run there and pay for the rides. That would be a good idea and it will bring a bit of revenue.

So have the area open for everybody but have services that those who can afford can pay. I feel that is the best compromise.
