Biden now says Israel is losing global support over Gaza bombing

The United States of America President Joe Biden has said Israel is starting to lose global support over its indiscriminate bombing of Gaza. Coming from someone who has been supporting Israel since Hamas attacked the country on October 7, 2023. This means Israel should rethink and ceasefire.

He has also issued a warning at Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and it's leadership.

"Israel's security can rest on the United States, but right now it has more than the United States. It has the European Union, it has Europe, it has most of the world,"he said earlier this week.

"But they're starting to lose that support by indiscriminate bombing that takes place," he said.

Biden said there was no question about the need to take on Hamas and Israel had every right to do so.

His comments come even as US citizens have expressed dissatisfaction with his support for Israel as thousands are dying.

The United Nations General Assembly also voted for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire during emergencies.

In the special sitting, it passed with a large majority of 153 in favour and 10 against, with 23 abstentions. The resolution also reiterated the General Assembly’s demand that all parties comply with their obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law, “notably with regard to the protection of civilians”

According to the UN, prior to the resolution, two amendments making specific reference to extremist group Hamas were voted down by members

"At the start of the session, Assembly President Dennis Francis underscored the urgency of ending the suffering of innocent civilians in Gaza," the UN said in a statement.

“We have one singular priority – only one – to save lives."
