Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) has postponed the test run of newly-built Green Park Terminus that was earlier scheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.

In a statement shared on Tuesday, June 15, the entity revealed that the exercise would take place on Friday, June 18.

NMS further explained that the postponement was to ensure that all the stakeholders in the industry receive sufficient time for preparations.
"The third test run at Green Park will be conducted on Friday, June 18, 2021, from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (the whole day).

"This will involve dropping and picking of passengers for PSVs. Extension has been made to ensure this information reaches all commuters and PSV operators," read the statement in part.
In an earlier notice, the entity headed by Major General Mohammed Badi had announced that it would ban matatus from accessing six bus stations while conducting its third Green Park terminus test run.

The initial rehearsal was scheduled for 6 am to 8 am but in the revised version, the exercise will last for 16 hours.

All public service vehicles using Langata Road, Ngong Road, Argwings Kodhek Road to Kikuyu, Ngong, Kawangware, Dagoreti, Kibera, Highrise, Ngumo, Rongai, Kiserian, Otiende, Langata, Otiende, Madaraka and Nairobi West will be directed to drop and pick passengers at the Green Park terminus.

Matatus operating at these six stations; Moi Avenue Service Lane (Outside Development, AGRHO and Gill houses), Nairobi Railway Station Bus Terminus, Hakati Stage, Ambassador, Mfangano Street and Kencom will also use the Green Park Terminus during the test run.

Machakos and Kitengela bound PSVs operating from the Nairobi Railway Station Bus Terminus will use Lusaka Road from Nyayo Stadium roundabout to Hakati Bus terminus where Langata and Nairobi West/Madaraka vehicles operate from.

Note it's a full-day test run and dropping and pick points for Machakos/Kitengal Vehicles and Routes into and out of town.

nilijipata tao hio day.
but the issue was the matatus were dropping passengers and instead of leaving, they wait to pick passengers.
hapo ndio jam ilitokea.

NMS has to find a solution as to where the matatus will be going once they drop off passengers. haziwezi rudi zote empty mtaa kuchukua passengers.

pia they should find a way for those who wish to drop off passengers and leave, can without passing through the picking points.

but wengine ni pesa za loan ndio wasionekane broke wakiwa kwa matatu. wengine pesa za kuiba, wengine pesa wako nazo.
but kutumia mat, ata kaa wako na matharau, ukua easy kuliko kujidrive.

This only works if you have a stationary address for work, for those who have to move around time wasted in matatus is more expensive than mileage rate. Naona sahii lots of tradesmen e.g carpenters, plumbers, electricians own nduthis, they can do more work in a day that way. Then the busier ones have proboxes with a big tool box in the boot

i hope one day we won't find ourselves with this in all major towns or any town.
i HOPE the relevant bodies will get ahead of the trend
