After years of poverty, What is your "I am doing better" story?

I know some of you passed through a lot and are now successful but at which point did you realise that you are now doing better?

For me I am still not where I want to be but:
- When I could have long-ass phone calls, talking slowly and my fingers not on the end call dialogue
- Did shopping for the house at the supermarket without mental calculations of the items and worrying if I could afford the coffee or not
- got into matatus without first having mkutano with the conda
- bought me new Non-mtumba Tshirt for the first time
- Opened apps like IG and Youtube without worrying about the mobile data getting depleted

Kuingia java / art caffe without making a short prayer that the people I'm meeting will be reasonable with their orders / pick up the tab. Kusota is a bad thing, worry kama hii can make a first time client meeting go sideways.

I'm still very stingy with my mobile data, mimi hungoja nifike home before watching vitu kama last week tonight

Mimi at some point i felt my local barbershop wasn't upto my standards..and I decided I needed to upgrade. The first time I went to a barbershop in the mall I didn't bother to ask the price.... the whole time I was sitted there i didn't flinch all I was thinking about is i want to come here often.... damage was ksh.600.... did that for 6 months until I came back to my senses and crawled back to my barber.

The second time I boarded a private plane nikajikuta in another country....wueeeh what a feeling.

Yaani mtu aliona mimi anipandishe ndege haina those long, boring boarding procedures eti ni kazi nimeenda.

Many moons later and I'm still doing it. God is great!

As for me, my angle is a bit different, the moment I started earning fully legit income.
No deals, as the call them 'mra' or 'gonga mtu'...
Materialistacally, the day I was chatting with my boys and innocently mentioned the price of a pair of jeans I got and the reaction in their voices...
Although I don't look at it as having made it.
Until the day I will be self sufficient living off my hardwork, no employment, not worrying about the next month's bills...
Then I'll have made it..

Now I have a full head of hair.
