Two suspected poachers were arrested inside Tsavo East National Park, near Ithumba elephant sanctuary having hunted and killed 13 dik-diks, several wild birds of different species, and dried game meat.

The suspects told KWS officers that they hunt at night using torches and wire snares to trap the animals, which they skin and then sun dry for illicit market. A full dik-dik they said fetches between Sh500 and Sh800 within the neighboring community and that sometimes the game meat also ends up in high-end hotels.
