I don't think they oppose Christianity. They just follow what the old testament says whereas other Christians tend to follow the new testamentDoes anyone know when this sect started?

They are Christians. One of their most popular hymns is Jesu ni Mukuuri. In fact a popular adage says their name Mukurinu originated from their greeting each other "Mukuuri nu (who is the saviour)?" and the respondent would answer "Ni Jesu".I don't think they oppose Christianity. just like most other religions even the akurinu would probably not answer your question... just follow blindlyIt's amazing how nobody seems to know their origin or much about them and that is what fascinates me about them.
Seems to me more of a cult that you have to be born into than anything else.

But it has its origin in Kikuyu land and it can't be older than the colonial era so some African must have started it.just like most other religions even the akurinu would probably not answer your question... just follow blindly
why do you think that? There were very many African Christian denominations that were formed because the Africans did not agree with the destruction of their culture but still wanted to be faithful to the Christian God.I think it's a secretive cult
