I had a discussion with someone where he was telling that they have suspended all their (donor funded) activities for their project due to Covid-19 and I asked him for how long? He didn’t have an answer. They just did it blindly. For an organization where expenditure = income, How will they pay salaries if their project officers do not go to the field And charge time? How will they implement project activities if they suspend all meetings and they can’t go to the field? In the end will they return money to the donor as unused due to Covid-19? Will they ask for more money for the subsequent phase or will they just cancel the project due to Codi-19?
I think people have to rethink their approach to Covid-19. It’s time to embrace it and for everyone to remain conscious and to protect themselves. Kama tu HIV, you have the choice of wearing a condom or not. It’s your life. But it shouldn’t stop anyone from working.

It is true India recorded plenty of false positives when using rapid antibody tests and discontinued their use, a common occurence in testing circles which is why when you test positive for HIV using the rapid test they do a confirmatory test using a different test kit, rapid tests are known to offer false positives and false negatives, nothing new there.

The question then is how do we emulate Tanzania without evidence of their better outcomes?

Na ati we are one of the biggest economies in africa, a fete exemplified by the fact that we do not produce massive natural resources like SA and Nigeria, ours is largely driven by our human resources which is much more and better educated and trained.

Not just the media. Every one fears loss. But the hospitality industry is always in a worse of situation coz they need the physical customer to be in business...the media industry can still mitigate the losses through other revenue streams and they are doing it...

If you can't find your way out of the forest in daylight, you won't find it when the sun sets (A Pygmy saying, made up). The bigger lesson is that systems that ought to work must work by all means. If a health system lumbers during quiet times, you would not expect it to manage a sprint when crisis knocks. There were many blunders, most of which will come to light in due time. I find it intriguing that church-run hospitals are more efficient and effective than comparable public hospitals with bigger budgets and more resources. It is also surprising that nobody seems to bothered by the DIY face-masks in circulation. I doubt the effectiveness of some in a situation where the virus attains wide circulation. There are no guidelines whatsoever on what should constitute an effective face mask.

Juzi, when Magufuli banned the use of face masks, we had an interesting argument with some friends. Some were arguing the implications of that directive to Kenya and how it will increase the spread of Covid19...... I pointed out that we all were wearing our masks on our chins and that closed the debate

Problem with antibody tests is that they are being produced by hundreds of companies, each using their own proprietary tech which means there is a disparity in specificity and.sensitivity, the test kits being used in the UK may be 80% accurate in detecting the virus but that could be lower when using other kits like the ones the Indians had to stop using or the 4 million the UK ordered shelved.

And PCR only produces false negatives due to testing too early, this inaccuracy can be undone by doing repeat testing a few days after the initial test unlike some of the antibody tests which produce both false negatives and false positives.

When you dont wear a mask, you can get and spread. Just like it happens with HIV, you could f**k around without a condom and survive but your chances of getting HIV are higher. I know people f**k around despite HIV, but it doesn't make it right. How would you feel if your f**kmate brought you that mdudu? Don't you think you should feel the same if someone brought you this new virus by being careless?
